OWNER & FOUNDER, AZ HOME INSPECTOR

Dillon Winiecki

Dillon, the award-winning Founder and Owner of Protect Property Inspections (PPI) in the Phoenix metro area, is not only an accomplished professional in the home inspection industry but also a dedicated Professional Firefighter. As a Certified Professional Inspector, Certified Commercial Property Inspector, and InterNACHI Mentor/Training Partner, Dillon’s expertise extends beyond PPI.

In addition to his role at Protect Property Inspections, Dillon is the proud owner of Inspection Career Training Academy and Arizona Commercial Property Inspections. With a belief that teaching is the best path to mastery, he established the first and only InterNACHI partner inspection school and field training program in Arizona.

Dillon has been serving as a professional Phoenix Firefighter/EMT since 2012. Prior to that, he honed his skills in the construction trades and played college football at both Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University. Born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, Dillon developed a love for the outdoors, spending much of his time in the woods, engaging in activities such as hunting, snowboarding, and riding dirt bikes. Whenever he has free time, Dillon enjoys traveling with his wife and watching his daughter play volleyball.

Jay

Jay, originally from the small town of Vernal, Utah, has been immersed in the construction business from an early age, working alongside his grandfather and father. Construction projects have always felt like his natural habitat, and Jay’s passion for the industry shines through.

In 2016, Jay made the move to Arizona, and in 2017, he acquired his Home Inspection license. Since then, he has been conducting thorough residential and commercial property inspections throughout the valley. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering excellence, Jay takes great pride in his work—a trait instilled in him by the unwavering values and strong work ethic inherited from his upbringing in the construction business.

Furthermore, Jay serves as our lead field training inspector. He takes the opportunity to mentor and guide aspiring inspectors by offering “parallel inspections,” where up to four students or applicants can join him, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the field. Jay’s dedication to training the next generation of inspectors demonstrates his commitment to the growth and professionalism of the industry

When he is not at working at Protect Property Inspections, he can be found enjoying DIY projects around the house, taking in our local hiking trails around Arizona, hitting the slopes at Snowbowl, camping, white water rafting, traveling, and exploring off-the-beaten path destinations across the state.

Tina

Tina’s roots trace back to Newcastle, Wyoming, where she honed her skills as a Professional Custom Home Builder, accumulating an impressive 23 years of experience. In 2014, she seized an excellent opportunity when the City of Newcastle appointed her as their Building Inspector. This role allowed her to delve deeper into her field and expand her knowledge base, ultimately leading her to obtain a Licensed Residential/Commercial Building Inspector certification from the International Code Council.

Embracing a new chapter in her life, Tina made a pivotal decision in 2018 to sell her home and pursue her passion for residing in Arizona. Remaining dedicated to the field of inspections, she obtained her home inspector license in 2019, cementing her expertise in this crucial aspect of the industry. Tina’s transition to the world of home inspection allowed her to combine her extensive construction background with her sharp eye for detail.

With her wealth of experience as a Custom Home Builder, New Construction Homes, and Building Inspector, Tina brings a unique perspective and comprehensive understanding to the new home inspection process. In 1995, Mike made the life-changing decision to leave his native Oklahoma and establish his roots in Arizona. With an impressive track record spanning over four decades, Mike has accumulated invaluable expertise in the electrical construction industry. Throughout his career, he has developed a deep appreciation for the building trades and has actively contributed to industrial, commercial, and residential construction projects across the country.

In the summer of 2022, Mike embarked on a new professional journey, choosing to transition from the construction industry to the realm of inspections. Driven by his passion for ensuring safety and quality in buildings, he obtained his license as a home inspector. Currently, Mike plays a vital role in the commercial inspection division of our esteemed affiliate partner company, Arizona Commercial Inspections.

Mike’s vast experience and comprehensive understanding of construction practices make him an invaluable asset to our team. His meticulous approach, combined with his knowledge of electrical systems, allows him to conduct thorough and precise inspections. Raised in the Verde Valley, Jon has deep roots in the community. Currently, he is actively involved in building his own home, which gives him firsthand experience and a keen understanding of the construction process. His commitment to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail makes him an ideal fit for the home inspection industry.

Jon’s professional journey began in the retail sector, where he thrived as a store manager for a Fortune 500 company. His leadership skills and determination propelled his team to become the top-ranking store in the entire United States. This accomplishment demonstrated Jon’s ability to excel in a fast-paced and results-driven environment.

Following his passion for public service, Jon fulfilled his lifelong dream by joining a valley fire department. Through hard work and dedication, he rose through the ranks to become a Firefighter Engineer, operating firetrucks like his father before him. However, a personal tragedy redirected Jon’s focus, leading him to play a vital role in advocating for safer roadways in Arizona, ultimately contributing to the implementation of the Hands-Free Driving requirement statewide.

With a desire to continue serving his community, Jon transitioned into operating school buses for the local school district, leveraging his professional driving skills. However, his calling to the world of home inspections soon became apparent. The combination of his knowledge of building construction from his firefighting experience and the attention to detail honed during his time in retail management made becoming a home inspector a natural progression.

Outside of work, Jon’s interests span from woodworking to all things tech-related. Darko Vracevic

PPI’s Pre-Drywall Specialist Inspector has spent over 30 years in the construction industry. 12 of those years he worked as construction foreman in both Germany and Arizona. He then began working as a Building Inspector for a local Arizona municipality over 18 years ago. In that time, he has earned 33 International Code Counsel (ICC) and now holds the highest level of certification as a Master Code Professional. He has also earned and maintains certifications in Home Performance, Commercial Property Inspections, and more. Darko is Multi-lingual in English, Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian.

Edgar Garcia

PPI Tucson’s lead inspector with seven years of experience serving the diverse communities of Arizona. Having lived in Prescott, Phoenix, and now Tucson, Edgar brings a deep understanding of the unique housing landscapes across the state. With a diverse background spanning home and auto insurance, plumbing, electrical work, millwork, and apartment maintenance, Edgar offers a comprehensive perspective during inspections. John Clark

John was Born and raised in Roseville, California and earned experience and tenure in woodworking, construction and home maintenance at early age. He then became a firefighter in Sacramento in 1997 and moved up from Firefighter to Captain and then to Battalion Chief.

He remained heavily involved in Fire Department training and education. John is a lifelong student and has been a student of building construction since he began in the fire service. Firefighter must know how buildings are constructed, so they understand how they deteriorate under fire conditions. He retired in 2023 and moved out to Arizona. John has been married 20 years and enjoys spending time with his wife and Golden Retriever, as well as playing golf, mountain biking and hiking.

Timothy Nell

Tim was born into a military family. He finally settled in Arkansas where he finished high school and went to college. He entered the Air Force and served 20 years as an Air Force pilot retiring in 2005. After re retired from the USAF, he was hired by FedEx where he worked as a commercial airline pilot for 18 years before retiring again at the end of 2023. It was then that he and his wife Tavy moved to Peoria, AZ and began his career as a home inspector. Not only is Tim a Certified Professional Inspector, but he is also certified in Thermal Imaging as well as Drone pilot inspections.

David Berry

After raising a family in southern California, David decided to relocate to Wickenburg AZ in 2022. Dedicating over 30 years of experience in automated manufacturing maintenance and engineering to his field, he had a desire to re-dedicate his professional experience and training to the home inspection business. With his love for working with customers and truly enjoying the excitement of the new home buyer experience he takes his passion for home inspecting to his customers to ensure they have a clear understanding of their home inspection results.

David is an Internachi Certified Home Inspector (CPI), licensed Arizona Inspector and has trained under PPI Parallel program for state licensing. He has a strong commitment to upholding the highest quality standards and ensuring safety is in the forefront of all inspections. When he is not inspecting, David enjoys golfing with his wife and working on (tinkering) with his classic hot rod.

Larry Sena

As a transplant from California, Larry has lived in Arizona for the past 36 years. His previous 20-plus years’ experience in hospice and home health care aided in his excellent customer service and compassion for helping others. Home inspections have become a real passion for Larry as he is still able to help others by providing them with knowledge and details about their property. Larry gained his inspection experience and skills during his previous employment with a local high-end, fast-paced home inspection firm. Here he frequently inspected luxury homes, older established 1930’s-60’s homes, and commercial properties. This experience really honed his keen eye for details, materials, equipment, and going beyond the standards of practice. Larry has since broadened his technical experience and services to include his termite license, mold certification, thermography certification and sewer scope certification.

When he is not working at Protect Property Inspections, he holds a position as a construction consultant. Working with all the major home developers in the valley performing new build construction, pre-drywall and multifamily inspections, code consulting and helps lead the sewer scope inspections. In his off-time Larry enjoys spending time with his family camping, going to the beach, playing corn hole tournaments, and having fun.

Randy Fryberger

Randy has been inspecting homes since 2019 and performed thousands of home inspections. In his twenties he was in the construction industry where he did many different things including remodels, roofs, window installs, additions and was an electrical apprentice. At 28 years old he went to college for Networking and was very happy in the beginning, but after a decade, the industry started to change and he was looking for something new. Luckily a friend of his, who is a home inspector, was very busy and helped him become an inspector himself. Since then he has been constantly increasing his knowledge, skills and efficiency. During his free time, he likes to golf, bowl, shoot pool and visit historic sites across the country.

Thomas Crumling

Thomas is originally from Virginia but has lived most of his life in Phoenix, Arizona. He has background in management, but found his passion for construction and woodworking when he worked for a general contractor for 3 years. Between his experience in construction and fixing things around the house with his dad, Thomas can repair or renovate almost anything in his home.

Thomas decided to peruse his career in home inspection after purchasing his first home. His eye for detail and knowledge in construction are the perfect combination for home inspection. Thomas takes pride in being thorough and confident in his inspections. He loves answering questions and sharing his knowledge to homeowners.

During his free time Thomas can be found making improvements in his home, painting Warhammer models, or hanging out with his wife, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. Thomas’ current project is renovating his office into a nursery to welcome his and his wife’s first baby in the fall of 2024.
